During labour, Lucie was an incredible presence. She knew exactly when to step in and when to give us space, which made a huge difference. Her support wasn't just for me - it was for my husband too, which was so important to us. She helped manage my contractions with massage, rebozo techniques, and essential oils, and she advocated for my birth preferences when needed. Even though things didn't go exactly as I planned and I ended up in theatre, I still look back on my birth experience as a positive one, largely because of how well prepared we were, and the confidence Lucie helped instil in us.
Postnatally, she continued to offer her support in ways that truly mattered, like checking in on us, bringing homemade meals, and offering a gentle space to reflect on the birth. Her decision to file a complaint about a particular midwife who negatively impacted on my labour was something I hadn't considered but found incredibly validating and helpful for closure.
